Vast flea markets filled with Mexican made goods
are sold for only pennies everyday. Yet most of these items made
in Mexico are not collectible, as they lack the sought after quality
many
collectors want. So we thought we would give you a brief look at some
of
the more uncommon things collectors are looking for from Mexico.
Mexican Silver,
sterling jewelry (also known as Taxco), flatware, & holloware, the
pieces to watch for should be unusual, generally heavy, very decorative
and from about 1920 to 1940. Most will have makers name, some
names
to watch for include: Hector Aguilar, Antonio, Fred Davis, Hubert
Harmon, Nat'l, and William Spratling.
Mexican War Items,
this includes items from the "Mexican Revolution" (1913 - 1918), and
the
"Mexican War" (1846 - 1848). This can include but is not limited
to, daggers, documents, dog tags, flags, guns, hats, helmets, photos,
medals,
shoes, tokens, and uniforms. If any of your ancestors were in these
wars
you may have some valuable collectibles around.
Mexican Weavings from
before 1940, especially excellent condition rugs, saltillos, and
serapes.
While most of
the Mexican items sought after are rare, sometimes someone is looking
for
something from Mexico, that will match other items they already
have.
