Vast flea markets filled with Mexican made goods are sold for only pennies everyday. Yet most of these collections made in Mexico are not collectible, as they lack the sought after quality many collectors want. So we thought we would give you a brief look at some of the more uncommon things collectors are looking for from Mexico. Mexican Silver, sterling silver, Mexican jewelry (also known as Taxco silver), flatware, & silver holloware. The silver pieces to watch for should be unusual, generally heavy, very decorative and from about 1920 to 1940. Most will have makers name, some silver names to watch for include: Hector Aguilar, Antonio, Fred Davis, Hubert Harmon, Nat'l, and William Spratling. Mexican War Collectibles, this includes items from the "Mexican Revolution" (1913 - 1918), and the "Mexican War" (1846 - 1848). This can include but is not limited to, daggers, old documents, dog tags, Mexican war flags, guns, military hats, helmets, photos, military medals, shoes, tokens, and military uniforms. If any of your ancestors were in these wars you may have some valuable Mexican collections around. Mexican Weaving from before 1940, especially excellent condition rugs, saltillos, and serapes. While most of the Mexican collections sought after are rare, sometimes someone is looking for something from Mexico, that will match other items they already have.
